Sterile processing technician4/17/2023 The admission list is based on a first come/first served basis. Student are also required to schedule a meeting with the Clinical Coordinator prior to enrolling in any courses. However, students must possess a High School Diploma, High School Transcripts, or a GED equivalent place into ENG 100 or 101 and be 18 years or older. This program is NOT a Limited Entry program therefore, application for admission is not necessary. Prospective students are advised that a felony conviction may preclude them from sitting for the national certification exam. Once the student has completed the required courses and clinical hours, they will be awarded a Certificate of Completion and the full certification of CRCST. Students will be required to complete a total of 400 hours in the clinical setting in order to receive a school certificate and full CRCST (Certified Registered Central Service Technician) certification. The program includes online classwork, and clinical practice in Sterile Processing. Offices of ophthalmologists, physicians and dentists.The Central Sterile Technician Certificate program provides students with the necessary skills for entry-level jobs into: Good teamwork, communication and professionalism are very useful to work successfully as a Central Sterile Technician. You may also be required to order supplies and distribute supplies throughout the healthcare facility. Assembling instrument trays for the Operating Room, placing instrument trays in the sterilizers, monitor and record the use of the sterilizers/autoclaves. Please refer to Functional Ability Requirements.As a Central Sterile Technician, your job will be to ensure that all surgical instruments, and some medical equipment used in the healthcare facility are cleaned and/or sterilized. The sterile processing technician perform essential functions to support the medical and surgical care of patients. The course emphasizes duties in sterile processing technology, aseptic procedures, equipment management, safety, quality assurance, HIPAA regulations, proper decontamination, sterilization and packaging techniques. ![]() The program provides an overview of the Sterile Processing and Distribution profession and develops fundamental concepts and comprehension principles necessary for professional proficiencies. This Sterile Processing program is designed to provide the student the knowledge and skills required for entry-level work as a sterile processing technician.
